APDA Family Caregiver Program held May 23rd at Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital

A generous grant from the DeSantis family honoring the memory of their mother Ruth was used to provide an informational program for family caregivers. APDA Information & Referral Center Coordinator Allyson Gormley, LICSW brought together a group of specialists to discuss common concerns. Family care providers included partners, adult children, and some friends. Dr.  Anna Hohler, a movement disorder specialist, provided an update on Parkinson's. Dr. David Bullis, a psychologist, discussed common feelings and concerns associated with caregiving. Rehabilitation specialists Val Allen OT, and Becky Corbis, PT also joined the panel. Program participants provided important feedback for future programs. Caregivers specifically expressed a need to have more discussion with each other and to have a dedicated caregiver support group or network. Thank you to all who worked on this program.
