Marblehead, MA: Parkinsons Fitness
Parkinson's Fitness is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a better quality of life for people with Parkinson's through fitness. Our home headquarters is located in Salem, MA and we are continually working toward expanding our mission throughout Boston's north shore. Our staff includes a personal trainer, group fitness experts, a yoga instructor, and a PD support group leader who are committed to assisting those with PD through exercise. We hold classes every Monday from 1:30-3:00 PM at the Marblehead Community Center (http://www.marblehead.org/index.aspx?NID=84).
What kind of a program is this and how can it help you?
Parkinson's Fitness provides exercise classes created specifically to assist people with Parkinson's with their everyday activities. Each class begins with group exercises devised to help improve mobility, stability, strength, endurance, cognition and flexibility. The second class component involves our moving into separate groups and participating in team exercises and activities (i.e., boxing, obstacle courses, etc.) that are adjusted to each individual's level of fitness and ability. The last segment of the class involves our singing together to improve voice function. We encourage one another physically and emotionally...and we share a healthy amount of fun together, too!
