Resources for Individuals with Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease

The American Parkinson Disease Association has established a Young Onset Center with a full-time director dedicated solely to supporting young individuals and their families. The Center is located at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenbrook, Illinois. Please feel free to contact the director Julie Sacks, LCSW at 877-223-3801 or e-mail apda@youngparkinsons.org  or visit the newly updated website at www.youngparkinsons.org

APDA has produced a Young Parkinson Handbook: A Guide for Patients and Their Families edited by Michael Rezak, MD, PhD, Susan Reese, RN, LCSW, and Julie Sacks, LCSW. In addition leading experts from around the country significantly contributed to this excellent book.

The APDA Young Onset Center also produces a quarterly newsletter YOUNG PARKINSON NEWSLETTER Living Well & Staying Strong.

In Massachusetts we have a Young Onset Support Group which meets monthly (2cd Sunday) at the Jewish Community Center in Newton, MA. This group is facilitated by Allyson Litos Gormley, LCSW and Cindy Bittker. For additional information contact us at 800-651-8466 or information@apdama.org
