Volunteers Needed for MIT Parkinson's Disease Project

Our research focuses on changes in the brain and thought processes that occur in Parkinson's disease.  We are recruiting volunteers for two testing sessions that take place on the MIT campus.  During the first session, participants receive an MRI scan that takes approximately 2 hours.  During the second session, participants complete a series of paper-and-pen and computer-based tasks that take about 3 hours.  These two sessions can be completed in one day or on two different days.

We are looking for patients who have been diagnosed with mild to moderate Parkinson's disease (Hoehn & Yahr Stage I-III) and healthy adults between the ages of 50 and 75.  All interested volunteers will be asked a series of questions to ensure that it is safe for them to have an MRI scan.

Participants will be paid $75 for MRI scanning and $10 per hour for testing of thought processes.  Free parking is available on campus.  Upon request, we can send results of MRI scanning and tests of thought processes to participants and/or their doctors.
