H. Seeking Parkinson's Disease Patients for Research on Therapy with Brain Stimulation

1) Participants must be 40 years of age or older and no history of schizophrenia or alcohol / drug abuse within the last year.

Testing will involve non-invasive and generally painless direct current brain stimulation with clinical tests done during and after each visit.

Testing will be conducted at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) OR at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.

Parking voucher will be provided.

2) If you have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and suffer from both motor (movement) and mood symptoms despite treatment with medication, you may be eligible for this study supported by the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s disease.

In this study, we will investigate whether repetitive transcranial magnetic brain stimulation (rTMS), a method of noninvasive brain stimulation, can help improve the movement and/or mood symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.
The treatment is provided 5 times per week, over 2 weeks, for a total of 10 treatment sessions.

The study will be conducted at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, MA. Compensation for your time and for parking at BIDMC will be provided.
